President Hadi: I do not regret the intervention of the Arab Coalition in Yemen and without them we would have been worse than Somalia

President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has denied that efforts to defeat the al-Houthi rebels have reached a deadlock, saying he did not regret using the Saudi-led coalition to intervene militarily in Yemen.

The" A’sifat Al hazm"of the Saudi-led coalition is one of the most successful decisions Taken in the Arab world, Hadi said in an interview with BBC from the southern Yemeni city of Aden., but at the same time admitted that military operations took longer than expected.

This comes after three years of armed conflict between Yemeni government forces, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, and the al-Houthi rebels backed by Iran. The war has left some 10,000 people dead,

"I did not regret the decision to use the coalition at all, otherwise we would not have liberated parts of the country from Aden to the Almaharah," Hadi said. Without coalition support, these areas would now be under the control of the Houthi. "

He stressed that without the Coalition intervention, "there would have been a civil war in Yemen longer than the civil war in Somalia", which continued from the 1990s to the present.

However, since the launch of Operations on March 2015, the United Nations has said that about eight million Yemenis have reached the brink of famine.

A month ago, President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his government returned to the city of Aden after spending more than a year in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, which he has held for a temporary headquarters since April 2015.

Hadi had visited Aden intermittently.
