Salem Thabet Al-Awlaky, spokesman of the southern transitional council sent the council’s greetings to all southern citizens inside the south and abroad who started a public campaign resenting the existence of any northern troops in the south. Al-Awlaky said: “This is a public demand that is not new. This demand started since military invasion of the south and forceful occupation in the summer of 1994”. He indicated that the council’s opinion is fixed and against the existence of any northern troops in the south. He added that the council asserted this opinion in all meetings with UN envoy, Martin Griffith, and several ambassadors of friendly countries.
Al-Awlaky said: “The southern people will never accept anything against their will under any conditions and they will never compromise their sacrifices and martyrs’ blood. Instead, they will stand still till they liberate their lands and restore their free national decision. There will be no subordination to any Yemeni regimen that reproduces the shares of Sanaa’s partner rivals.
Al-Awlaky demanded all parties to respect the southern people’s will to reach a permanent peace that establishes a stable and secure future for both southern and northern peoples. He indicated: “Any tries to bypass the will of our people or provoke them will fail and the southern people and the southern transitional council will face it with the same free will that liberated Aden and all southern cities from Al-Houthi militias
